Michael Bohnert was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated summa cum laude from Missouri State University with a degree in cell and molecular biology. While there, he tutored science courses, was a Resident Assistant, and participated in multiple mentorship programs. During his undergraduate studies, he worked as an ED medical scribe. After graduating, he spent one year working as a sleep medicine technician before matriculating to University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine. In medical school, he taught classmates on a variety of subjects through the school’s problem-based learning curriculum.
He received a 266 on Step 1 and a 275 on Step 2 CK. He scored in or above the 88th percentile on all his shelf exams and received honors in his clerkships and elective rotations. He spent time during his fourth year of medical school tutoring first-year medical students. Michael was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is currently a transitional-year resident at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC and has matched into dermatology at the University of Missouri – Columbia. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring and is excited to partner with students to help them achieve their goals! In his free time, he enjoys hiking, golfing, cooking, and traveling.
