Bio

Courtney was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. She graduated from Denison University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry. During her time at Denison University, she served as a peer tutor for both the Psychology and Chemistry departments, a teaching assistant for Chemistry courses, and was the founder and president of the Mid-Ohio Medical Brigades chapter that traveled to Ghana to supply medical and dental services to community members. After graduating, she attended Case Western Reserve University to receive a Master’s in Medical Physiology. During her time there, she participated in extensive clinical research with the Ohio Brain Tumor Study, was hired as a teaching assistant for the entire program to oversee curriculum development and tutor many students, and was involved in developing the Global Health Brigades chapter at Case Western. She then matriculated to Northeast Ohio Medical University, where she continued to tutor, advise, and mentor both medical and undergraduate students and was nominated by her fellow peers for the Peer Tutor of the Year award, which she received. She was involved in numerous research projects throughout medical school, and was involved in developing a teaching tool for nail technicians to identify subungual melanomas. She received a 261 on Step 1 and a 266 on Step 2 CK, and scored in the 90th percentiles on all of her shelf exams, as well as honored all of her clinical rotations in 3rd and 4th year. For the last ten years of her education, Courtney has been involved in tutoring a wide variety of subjects, including being the main Step 1 and Step 2 tutor for Northeast Ohio Medical University during her time there. She graduated Gonfalonian of the class of 2020 at NeoMed. She is currently a PGY-1 Resident at MetroHealth in Cleveland, Ohio in her preliminary medicine year and will then be starting her Dermatology residency following at MetroHealth. She is extremely passionate about medical education and want to continue to help medical students be successful in their careers and achieve the goals they set for themselves. She plans to go into academics following residency, with a focus in dermatological oncology. In her free time, she enjoys exercising running, weight lifting, kickboxing, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and ALL THINGS CLEVELAND (especially Cleveland sports).
