Bio

Dr. Nguyen is a physician-scientist-innovator who has been developing and translating biomedical optical technologies and nanotechnologies from the bench to the bedside. He is passionate about moving new technologies from ideation to impact and training future generations of physician-scientists, physicians, scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs. Dr. Nguyen also enjoys building communities and collaborations in healthcare innovation, research, and medicine. He is the co-founder of the American Physician Scientists Association, Rice Alumni in Medicine, MIT COVID-19 Challenge, and MIT Hacking Racism Challenge, and he was the former co-director for MIT Hacking Medicine.

Dr. Nguyen earned a bachelor’s degree in both chemistry and mathematics from Rice University and earned his MD/PhD in physical chemistry from UIUC. He also completed a research postdoc at MIT, an in vivo microscopy fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, his clinical pathology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, and his transfusion medicine fellowship at Dartmouth.
