Bio

Jamil grew up in Simsbury, Connecticut, but now calls Arlington, Virginia home. He graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, DC with a degree in Justice and Peace Studies. During his time at Georgetown, Jamil worked extensively with people experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC, as a case manager, a volunteer barber, and an advocate on campus. His work with people experiencing homelessness encouraged him to consider a career in medicine. Prior to enrolling in the Georgetown University School of Medicine, he worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for one-year on a post-baccalaureate intramural research training award (IRTA).

In medical school, he continued to volunteer and began mentoring undergraduate and medical students. He received a 273 on Step 2 CK without taking any dedicated time off from clinical rotations to study and >90th percentile on most of his shelf exams.

Jamil is passionate about teaching and mentoring medical students and supporting their well-being. He understands that USMLE exams can be an extraordinarily anxiety-inducing, time-consuming endeavor; however, he firmly believes that all medical students can excel on USMLE exams with smart planning and efficient studying.

He is also actively involved in Otolaryngology research, with specific interests in head and neck cancer and diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is currently planning to apply for an Otolaryngology residency position in the 2022 match. In his free time, he enjoys marathon running, water polo, swimming, and spending time with his wife and son.
