Bio

Dr. Young graduated with a bachelor’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from Yale University. Undecided on a career path, she spent the next two years exploring various professional avenues, including graduate-level research, legal work, and working on a remote ranch before eventually settling on medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and completed her residency in emergency medicine at the Alameda County Medical Center – Highland Hospital program, where she was involved annually in the resident selection process, including application review and interviews. After residency, Dr. Young went on to complete a fellowship in wilderness medicine at UCSF-Fresno, where she stayed on as academic faculty for their emergency medicine residency program. She also participated in residency interviews and selection for the program and served as wilderness medicine fellowship director for several years, interviewing all candidates for the fellowship.
